Why I'm Running For Alder
I'm a student first, and that gives me the unique perspective of what students and young people go through and deal with every day. Our issues are different than what other residents of Madison deal with, and I want to make sure that we are able to have a seat at the table to voice their opinions.
There are many issues where we as young people are impacted heavily that are just not being focused on at a city-wide level. The cost of housing is skyrocketing and the city is not doing nearly enough about it. I believe we need to further increase transparency and accountability with the Madison Police Department, and make us feel safe. I want to work on transportation around the campus area, increase mental health services and a lot more.
Us students make up a sixth of the population in Madison, and provide a huge economic output within the City. As Alder I will not only represent you, but involve you and uplift your voices to ensure the voices of young people are respected and prioritized.
